Help keep families together when they need it most.

Moog and Friends Hospice House needs help,

and you have artwork you would like to donate.

It’s a perfect match. 

 

Harry & Lisa will be in Vancouver the week of February 25 to pick up your donations.

 

Do you have original artwork in your home that you no longer have room for?  Maybe a painting, or a small sculpture you once loved, or received as a gift, that really doesn’t work in your home anymore?  Do you have a special bottle of wine you are willing to donate?  Maybe a vintage bottle, a magnum or an old port? You can help build the new kitchen at Moog & Friends Hospice House.  This new kitchen will feature a secured area for use by staff and a separate area for families and volunteers to prepare food for patients. The facility’s kitchen has not been updated since it opened in 1998 and is no longer food-safe.

The Hospice Palliative Care Program is dedicated to the care of the terminally ill patient, their family and support persons. The purpose of the program is to alleviate suffering and to improve the quality of living for persons for whom curative treatment is no longer desired or appropriate.

Donate original art of any kind, or some great wine to the “Wine & Art Because You Care” event, an innovative fundraiser that will see one person’s art become another person’s treasure, or add to the lucky winner’s cellar.  This event is an initiative of the Okanagan members of the Sovereign Order of St. John, dedicated to providing support to community organizations focusing on hospice, healthcare and homelessness.

“We are grateful for any donation of wine or art, be it paintings, pottery, sculptures, or something made by an artisan’s hand” said Joy Zsombor, SOSJ Okanagan Commander.  “Your donated art and wine will be sold, auctioned and raffled at our upcoming “Wine & Art Because You Care” event on April 28, 2019 to members of the community who purchase a ticket to attend.  In order to raise the needed revenue to help build the new kitchen, we are asking that any donated piece of art be both original and valued at $200 or more.  Wine can be of any value, and may be combined with other wines to form a lot valued at $200+. Your donation will help give patients, families & staff access to a food-safe kitchen during a time of great need, and your once-loved artwork or surplus wine will find a new home.  Every dollar of the proceeds generated at this event (up to $40,000) will be matched by the SOSJ Okanagan and will go to help build the new kitchen.
